A 51-year-old man remains in custody in Yorkton today following a domestic dispute that turned ugly on the long weekend.
On April 5, Esterhazy RCMP responded to a complaint of an altercation at a home in Dubuc, a village approximately 60 kilometres south of Yorkton on Hwy 9. At the scene they found Simon Naylor allegedly wielding a knife and holding a woman against her will.
Naylor appeared in Yorkton court April 6 on charges of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon with intent to commit an offence, and forcible confinement.
The Crown, represented by Daryl Bode, opposed his release.
Jason Bobb, a Yorkton Tribal Council court worker, who filled in as duty counsel because Legal Aid was closed Easter Monday, requested a bail verification report (BVR).
Judge Patrick Koskie granted the BVR and remanded Naylor in custody pending a bail hearing April 9.
