Rural municipal elections were held across the province on October 26.
Unofficial results from the RM of Wallace No. 243 show that incumbent Sidney Wonitowy was the winner of that RM's sole contested division councillor position. Wonitowy defeated R. Clare Lockhart 51 votes to 16.
Division 4 councillor Barry W. Mehling and Division 6 councillor Keith Kyle were returned by acclamation.
In the RM of Orkney No. 244, Division 5 councillor was the only position requiring a vote. Vern Effa defeated fellow newcomer Darrell Hueser 48 votes to 12 for that seat. Randy Trost (Div. 2), Shirley Cole (Div. 4), and Robert Kriger (Div. 6) were all elected by acclamation. Of these three, only Trost is new to the job.
