Rodeo and Stampede - 1934

Yorkton held its first rodeo in 1934. They contracted with John E. Hartwig of Helena, Montana to take charge of the whole rodeo, paying him $2,500.00, plus 10 percent of the grandstand receipts.

Yorkton held its first rodeo in 1934. They contracted with John E. Hartwig of Helena, Montana to take charge of the whole rodeo, paying him $2,500.00, plus 10 percent of the grandstand receipts. The next year, Hartwig's plan was to go to the Mexican border to get cattle for the Yorkton rodeo. (April 4, 1935, The Yorkton Enterprise.)
