Each month a male and a female student is selected as the SHHS Saint of the Month. Saint of the Month students are nominated by staff and students of SHHS. The selection is based on: Demonstrating Christian Values, School work, School Involvement, Leadership, and Community Involvement.
Rita Fetsch is always helping fellow classmates and staff in organizing the many different school activities from Spirit Days to Liturgies. She is very considerate of others needs and can always be counted on to help. Rita has consistently had top grades through her grade 12 year. She is involved with and the leader of many student body functions and is often at school before 7 am and home late from school activities. Rita is involved with SRC, choir, music ministry, drama, musical, yearbook, AP classes, soccer, badminton, Urock, cross country, track and field and liturgy. She won female youth soccer player of the year as awarded by Sask Soccer. She won female player of the year for Yorkton United soccer. Rita plays with Regina Unidad on the provincial soccer league and played with Poland and won World Cup in Regina. Rita helps out and represents SHHS at the hospital and nursing homes and with cancer fundraisers. She dances with Kalyna Ukrainian Dance. Her leadership shines as the SRC secretary, as a sports rep, as a soccer captain, with lead roles in both drama and musical and as the yearbook editor. She helps to lead the magazine campaign fundraiser and has attained a high level (grade 8) of piano training. Rita has won numerous group and individual awards and accolades for the highest level of Ukrainian Dance. Rita attends Our Lady of Fatima church in Weyburn and St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton.
Ben Fetsch is a young lad who is always willing to lend a had. He brings his bright and peppy attitude everywhere he goes and never fails to put on a smile on the face of those around him. It is very evident that God is the center of this young man's life. He is thoughtful, considerate, kind and caring. He is very respectful to those around him and has a very humble heart. Ben is very faith-filled and displays virtue in his life. He is a straight A student maintaining an average over 95% every year at Sacred Heart. Ben works hard in all of his classes, rarely having homework as a result of his efficiency in class. He is very actively involved in both his school and in the community. In school, Ben is (or has been) involved in: soccer, volleyball, badminton, curling, cross country, track and field, SRC, music ministry, choir, musical, drama, Urock, Just Youth, and yearbook. In the community he plays soccer with Yorkton United and Ukrainian dances, takes piano lessons, coaches and refs soccer. He recently tried out for Regina Provincial Soccer League team (QC) and made the team and will be a member of the PSL team for spring and summer. He played with England in the recent World Cup in Regina. Ben displays many qualities and has many aspects of his life that make him the true leader that he is, worthy of being looked up to. He leads by example with his attentiveness, diligence, enthusiasm, determination, and humility in everything he does. Ben attends church regularly at Our Lady of Fatima church in Weyburn and St. Mary's church. He is an altar boy and attends church camps every year.
