Samaritan saves the wedding day

As if having a million things to do to prepare for her daughter Kathleen’s August 29 wedding wasn’t enough, Kara Molnar wound up stranded on the highway with the wedding tent.

On August 27, Kara and her son Christopher headed for Regina where they picked up the tent and some other rented supplies. On the way back to Yorkton, just outside White City, their rented trailer blew its axle.

It was a setback they did not need with just two days to go before the wedding. Kara was frantic calling around on her mobile phone to try and find another trailer, but there was none to be had.

Then Ron Roteliuk, a community safety officer with the R.M. of Edenwold, pulled up to offer assistance.

“My first words to him were ‘do you have a trailer I can rent’,” Kara said. “It was fortuitous that he did.”

He didn’t want any money, however. He loaned them his own trailer for the weekend.

“He was a super, super nice guy,” Kara said. “I’ve always had a high regard for humanity, but what he did was above and beyond.”

The rest of the wedding went off without a hitch—except for the requisite hitching of the bride and groom, of course.

They returned the trailer on the Monday following the wedding along with a thank you card and gift card.

“His random act of kindness saved our day,” Kara said.
