Santa Claus is looking for some helpers to make his annual parade safe and fun.

The Yorkton Business Improvement District (YBID) is asking for volunteers to pitch in during their Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 25.

“Last year’s event was fantastic,” said Andrew Rae, a board member with YBID. “We’re looking for more people to make it a secure and safe event.”

YBID is specifically searching for people who can walk alongside the floats as they march down Broadway Street. Volunteers will serve as an extra set of eyes for the drivers, making sure attendees don’t stumble into the path of oncoming vehicles.

“Concerns were raised and we’re addressing them,” Rae said.

The parade also needs workers to supervise the blocked intersections.

YBID is reaching out to community groups for volunteer positions, such as Parkland Search and Rescue.

The parade isn’t the only event planned for Nov. 25. YBID will be organizing a Christmas movie at the Landmark Theatre, family breakfast at the fire hall, and carols in the downtown park. All activities are free to the public.

“I was impressed by the community engagement,” Rae said.

The parade will kick-off at 5:30 p.m.

“[I’m] looking forward to another fantastic parade,” he said.
