Saskatchewan had the third highest average weekly earnings in the nation in April, according to Statistics Canada. Saskatchewan's average weekly wage for April was $912.78, a 4.0 per cent increase over last year and the second highest percentage increase among the provinces.

"This is all about Saskatchewan people having more take home pay every week, which means money that improves quality of life," Economy Minister Bill Boyd said.

"The improvement in average weekly earnings is simply good news all around."

Average weekly earnings have been on the rise, exceeding the national average since August 2011 according to Statistics Canada.

"Wages in Saskatchewan have surpassed what is happening on the national scene for more than nine straight months," Boyd said.

"It is a good signal that our economy is moving forward, and another good economic indicator to support steady growth into our future."
