Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski and Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall met July 16, 2012, in Saskatoon to sign an Intergovernmental Relations Accord that commits their governments to working more closely on areas of mutual interest.
"Saskatchewan and Yukon will continue to take our own unique paths," Wall said. "But there are great opportunities to cooperate for the benefit of our citizens when we have so much in common."
"Yukon and Saskatchewan have much in common, including solid economic growth, strong resource sectors and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Forging closer ties will support the ongoing success of our jurisdictions," Pasloski said.
Mutual interests covered by the Accord include health care, environmental protection, education, literacy and skills training and research and innovation. The Accord will be in effect until 2017.
