School board chair loses seat

Ray Sass, the current chair of Good Spirit School Division, was not re-elected in October 24 election. Sass, a regional manager for SARCAN, has been a trustee with the school board for 10 years, eight of which he served as chair.

Gordon Gendur was handily elected to the school board in first place with 1,383 votes.


Ray Sass, the current chair of Good Spirit School Division, was not re-elected in October 24 election.

Sass, a regional manager for SARCAN, has been a trustee with the school board for 10 years, eight of which he served as chair.

Lenore Pinder, a director on a local credit union board who has served on the GSSD board for the last three years, also lost her seat.

Sass and Pinder are replaced by Gordon Gendur, a retired administrator/educator who currently serves on the Sunrise Health Region board and Richard B. Haacke, a retired teacher, Melville Comprehensive School principal and in-school administrator.

Bonnie Rushowick, the other incumbent and a registered nurse, retained her seat which she has held for 14 years.

David Deswiage, a newcomer to Yorkton and first-time candidate, brought of the rear finishing last among the six vying for three city of Yorkton spots.
