A new series featuring some of the best organic food Saskatchewan has to offer is set to take to the airwaves starting Sunday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. on Access7. Dining with the Stars is a 13-episode series that follows Saskatchewan-grown organic food on the journey from the farm gate to the dinner plate - in fine style.
Each weekly episode, hosted by a local celebrity, profiles a Saskatchewan-based organic farmer who donates food to a local restaurant, where chefs prepare a gourmet menu as part of a special event for 12 to 24 people. From start to finish, the emphasis is on good food and great people.
"The Access7 community channel gives us a unique platform to tell stories about the people and places that make Saskatchewan great," Access Communications CEO Jim Deane said. "We're delighted to be a part of the Dining with the Stars project and we invite everyone to tune in and meet some of those people."
Filming for the series started in August 2010 and ran through to March 2011. Restaurants in six Saskatchewan communities are featured.
"Dining with the Stars has provided an excellent opportunity to create awareness about the rich and diverse array of healthy, great tasting food that is available to enjoy right here in Saskatchewan," Saskatchewan Organic Directorate Media Coordinator and series producer Marion McBride said. "These events have also fostered strong connections between producers and chefs, yielding even more opportunities to showcase the world-class organic dining opportunities our province has to offer."
