A sharing circle to assist people after the death of a loved one will be held at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. This evening is sponsored by Bailey's Continuing Care Services and is open to all who would like to attend.
It may be the weeks, months or years following your loved one's death that are more difficult than the initial moments you learned he or she had died. This is the experience of grief - it is a natural human response to loss. "It is because grief is a normal response to a significant loss that we are hosting a sharing circle. In a supportive and respectful atmosphere this sharing circle evening will be an opportunity to share your grief or listen and discern as others tell their story of loss and grief" says Crystal Bailey, Coordinator for Bailey's Continuing Care Services. A sharing circle is when people come together in a group setting and have the opportunity to observe that others are experiencing similar reactions to their own. During the sharing circle there will be a time to share emotions and pain in a non-threatening environment. It is an occasion to feel a sense of belonging, mourn, learn and encourage others.
Grief is not something we like to think about, and after a loss, many people struggle to come to terms with the experience. If you feel this way the sharing circle may be a helpful experience. Those who are interested in participating, or those who would like to become involved in support may call Crystal at (306) 783-7552 or email: [email protected].
