Shelley Van Parys Fundraiser: come enjoy a steak supper. Shelley has been diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. The cancer has recently spread to her lungs and she has recently started receiving chemotherapy treatments. Tapps Barr and Grill, 69 Broadway St. W., Yorkton. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Harvest Meats front office or at Yorkton This Week. Sat., Sept. 14. Supper times: 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. There will be a silent auction. The Canadian Federation of University Women, Yorkton will start their 2013-2014 season on Sat., Sept. 14, 2013 @ 09:30. We have an active Book Club that meets monthly and an Issues and Actions committee that is working on issues affecting our community. Helianthus XXXV, an eclectic collection of original works of art created by prairie artists and artisans, is now in full bloom at community pARTners gallery! These colourful and energetic pieces celebrate the spirit of Sunflower, Yorkton's own fine art craft market, offered for the 35th time this fall. Please check out this unique exhibition at Yorkton Public Library during regular opening hours, from now till winter reigns again. A reception is planned for the artists, date TBA. On Sept. 7, 1906, the Yorkton Horticultural Society held their first flower display at City Hall. To honor the occasion, 107 years later, the Yorkton and District Horticultural Society will have a photo display in the lobby of City Hall Sept. 9 - 13, with pictures of the amazing City planters and flowerbeds. So if you're downtown, pop in to City Hall during that week and take a look at the pictures.

The Yorkton Arts Council is pleased to begin the 2013-2014 "Stars For Saskatchewan" concert series with Memory Lane featuring Stephen Maguire, Wed., Sept. 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Anne Portnuff Theatre, Yorkton Regional High School. Memory Lane has audiences "dancin' in the aisles and singin' along" to all the classics from the 40's, 50's and 60's. The 8 piece band is fronted by Irish-born Stephen Maguire who has been named one of CBC Saskatchewan's Future 40.
