Shooting incident youth arrested on armed robbery charges

A 15-year-old Yorkton boy who pleaded guilty to and was sentenced to nine months probation for unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm in January was back in court April 13.

A 15-year-old Yorkton boy who pleaded guilty to and was sentenced to nine months probation for unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm in January was back in court April 13.
The youth, who cannot be named because of his age, faces a number of new charges including robbery with a firearm.
On December 5, 2016, people on First Avenue North alerted police to what sounded like gunfire. The RCMP investigation turned up a damaged vehicle and led them to the teen, who was arrested shortly thereafter.
On January 26 the accused admitted to having stolen a shotgun and three shells, then walking down First Avenue North and shooting the windshield of a parked vehicle. The conditions of his probation included a curfew, personal counseling and no contact with a co-accused person. He also received a two-year weapons prohibition.
On Thursday last he was remanded in custody until May 2 on the new charges.
