Cross country skiers, as of Sunday afternoon, Nov. 19, can ski on packed and groomed trails at Good Spirit Provincial Park.
The club owes a big thank you to the Sebastian family (Derek, Lana and Burke), to Leonard Puchala and Cindy Smith and to park supervisor Brian Dudar for their efforts throughout the past weekend.
The groomer would not run properly on Saturday. The Sebastian family had to content themselves with packing the trails and then halting their efforts. Saturday evening the groomer was transported to Yorkton where 'doctor' Leonard performed electrical surgery restoring it to good health. Sunday, the Sebastian family returned with the groomer to the ski trails. Sunday the groomer cooperated. Although not all of the trails are ready, one can now ski on packed and groomed trails from both the east and west side of the park to the park's ski shelter.
If you are interested in frequenting the Good Spirit cross country ski trails this winter please consider a 2012 - 2013 membership (visit www.goodspiritski.blogspot.ca for forms or contact membership chairperson, Anne Stupak 783 - 6617 or [email protected]) with our active club.
A couple of reminders:
Members and supporters, on a volunteer basis, 'put up' wood for seasoning and burning. If you intend to burn wood, please join our club..
The 2012 - 2013 season is now officially under way. The club encourages people to become active on their trails, and to join the group, which is continually looking for folks to serve on numerous committees.
