A recent study of 40,000 women ages 45 and older published in the March issue of Meridian HealthViews found that walking at least 2 hours a week could lower the risk for stroke by 30 percent. Walking faster may even provide additional benefits.

Cardiovascular activity is good for the heart and can keep blood pumping effectively through the body. Aim for 30 minutes a day.
