The Yorkton Film Festival is announcing the continuation of its Spotlight on the News screening series for 2016.
“This film series deals with stories that have been present in the media, whether that’s local, provincial, national or international.” Said Yorkton Film Festival Executive Director Randy Goulden. “The aim of the series is to lift the curtain on some of the issues that come up in the news, and explore them a little further in a way that news sometimes can’t.”
The next installment of Spotlight on News will be on Tuesday, June 28th as the festival will host a screening of 2016 Nominee, The Death Debate.
The Death Debate is a documentary about the small group of people who changed the laws around physician assisted-dying in Canada. The film chronicles the history of the issue, starting in 1993 when Sue Rodriguez challenged the law, through to the historic Supreme Court of Canada decision of 2015.
The screening will take place Tuesday, June 28th at 2:00 pm at the Godfrey Dean Cultural Centre. The screening is open to the public and free of charge.
