Many Parkland College Students are going through a hectic time as final exams and assignment deadlines pile up. That’s why the College worked with the local branch of St. John Ambulance to bring a therapy dog to the College’s main campus in Yorkton Dec. 7. Charley, a nine-year-old chocolate Labrador retriever, visited with students during the lunch hour. Studies show that interacting with animals can decrease stress, lower blood pressure, and improve your mood. The St. John Ambulance therapy dog program began in Ontario in 1992. Today, there are about 30,000 certified therapy dogs in Canada.
