An energetic new show, QUILTY... As Sewn! is waiting for you at community pARTners gallery in the Yorkton Public Library. Colourful quilts and a variety of other works of art by York Colony Quilters Guild is on display from now till late October. Eleven members of this longtime circle of avid quilters are represented in this exhibition, along with some group projects. World Breastfeeding Week in Canada happens Oct. 1-7, which is the 40th week of the year, thus symbolizing the 40th week of pregnancy. The 2014 World Breastfeeding Week theme is, "Breastfeeding: A Winning Goal for Life!", acknowledging that when mothers and babies succeed in their breastfeeding plans, they can enjoy a lifetime of benefits. The Yorkton Film Festival is proud to announce the return of OPEN Cinema. Join us at the Yorkton Public Library as we open up the film vaults and bring out some of the best. Yes, it's movie night! It's free. It's fun. Everyone is welcome. To kick off our fall programming, we'll be highlighting a collection of wonderfully whacky shorts from the National Film Board. This collection will include Log Driver's Waltz, Duel-Duo, Blackfly, The Cat Came Back, The Sweater, and Cactus Swing (which had as a producer Yorkton's own Jerry Krepekevich). We will cap off the evening with another NFB classic, The Painted Door. Join us for an evening of film and talk Tues., Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Yorkton Public Library. Open Cinema Passports will be handed out at this event.
