Get set to sit back, relax, and enjoy some very smooth, very delicious jazz as the Yorkton Arts Council welcomes the Jesse Peters Trio to the city on Monday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Anne Portnuff Theatre, Yorkton Regional High School.
Jazz greats Diana Krall and Ingrid Jensen gave amazing reviews to Jesse's singing and song-writing while he was still in high school. By the time he was 21, Jesse was an active part of the Canadian music scene.
Many musical influences and many musical greats have shaped Jesse's style. "I'm a huge fan of the classics: Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles. Of those, I think the most significant influence on me has been Ray Charles. I find I really connect with how bluesy and earthy his singing and playing is." says Jesse.
Jesse presents a special blend of music, rich and flavorful like a good cup of coffee. How would he describe his music? "I like to use the word 'classic' when I describe what I do. Classic swing and classic soul very much inform the way I play and the way that I entertain." he remarks.
Sharing music is one a great way to connect and grow. Jesse adds, "I love being able to meet new people and see new places. I find that different audiences and stages keep the music fresh, it's never the same twice. Really, when it comes down to is, that's what I love most about what I do. The uniqueness of every gig is what makes this so much fun."
Face Time is Jesse's newest release, a mix or original and standard selections that are filled with energy and innovation. Described as "a set of tunes that beg to be listened to with only the finest of wine, or indeed an excellent scotch, in hand. Retro, classic, and recorded live-off-the-floor at Edmonton's Winspear Centre, Face Time, is a tribute to Jesse's many influences, showing where this vocalist has taken his talent over the years."
Concert audiences will no doubt be treated to a great mix of songs, plus the personality of the performer. "I want everyone to walk away with two things on their mind: first, the music was fantastic and second, that was so much fun! I'm not a performer who feels that there should be a separation between audience and performer. I like to involve the audience in the show." Jesse affirms.
Tickets to the Jesse Peters Trio are available at the Yorkton Arts Council or at Welcome Home Floral and Gift Shop, or at the door. That date again, Monday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Anne Portnuff Theatre, Yorkton Regional High School.
