The stars are once again shining brightly on the prairies as the Yorkton Arts Council welcomes Henri Loiselle and Martin Janovsky in the next Stars for Saskatchewan concert on Sunday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Anne Portnuff Theatre, Yorkton Regional High School.
"We're in for a great show with Henri and Martin!" comments Debbie Hayward, performing arts coordinator for the Yorkton Arts Council. "These two gentlemen are wonderful performers, and have a great rapport that will really delight the audience!"
Passionate about music, Henri started performing in Muenster, Saskatchewan, training with Alphonse Gerwing. Henri's music is influenced by his many favorites in a wide spectrum of musical genres. He also studied opera performance at the University of Toronto, and toured with the Canadian Opera Company. Henri farmed near Saskatoon, and is also known as "the singing farmer". His beautiful bass-baritone voice will take us on a musical journey that will include many favorites!
Martin Janovsky was born in Czechoslovakia, and studied piano and composition at the Conservatory of Prague. He toured throughout Europe with his own trio, worked in France, then moved to Canada. He started a new group called "Hipcheck", a group that was asked to be the house band at the Saskatchewan Pavilion at Expo in Vancouver. At this time, he met Henri Loiselle, and a lasting friendship was begun. Martin is also a composer, and has his own music studio to teach students classical and jazz music.
Two extremely talented musicians will grace the stage! Together, Henri and Martin bring the audience superb renditions of the songs we all know and love for a thoroughly enjoyable evening! Tickets are available at the Yorkton Arts Council or at Welcome Home Floral and Gift Shop. For more information call the Yorkton Arts Council, 783-8722.
