Two amazing stars will be lighting the prairie evening as the Yorkton Arts Council's "Stars for Saskatchewan" series presents their finale concert for the 2012-2013 season: Michael Burgess and Rebecca Caine on Tuesday, April 30 at 8:00 p.m. in the Anne Portnuff Theatre, Yorkton Regional High School. And what a finale it is!

Two sparkling stars will grace the stage: Michael Burgess was born in Regina: a Saskatchewan star! His amazing musical talent takes many forms, including singing over 1000 performances as Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables" in Toronto. Other major performances include "Man of LaMancha", and starring roles throughout North America. He was made a member of the Order of Ontario in 2013.

Rebecca Caine has achieved fame in both opera and musical theatre. Her varied career includes singing the role of Eliza in "My Fair Lady" on a national tour, and Christine in "Phantom of the Opera". She has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Canadian Opera Company, and various broadcasts for Radio 3. Rebecca continues to perform in solo cabaret performances and concerts all through North America and Britain, and also teaches at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich.

Together, Michael and Rebecca will create musical theatre magic! They will take the audience on a dazzling journey through the music of classic and contemporary Broadway. It will be a superb concert to wind up the "Stars" season.

The performers for the 2013-2014 "Stars For Saskatchewan" series are now in place, and will be announced at the Burgess and Caine concert. The line-up includes a great mix of a variety of performances, all sure to please everyone in the audience! Early bird series subscriptions will be sold at the concert on April 30.

"Buying the early bird subscription is a terrific value," comments Debbie Hayward, performing arts coordinator for the Yorkton Arts Council. "Even if someone can't make it to every concert, they are still getting their money's worth compared to the cost of purchasing single tickets. A great deal of planning has gone into the next line-up; some names might be new, but all of them are extremely talented performers and will bring wonderful shows to Yorkton!"

Tickets to the Michael Burgess/ Rebecca Caine concert are available at the Yorkton Arts Council, or at Welcome Home Floral and Gift Shop. For more information, please call the Arts Council office at 783-8722.
