There were an awful lot of people passing through the gates last week en route to the Yorkton Exhibition Association's (YEA) Summer Fair, says president Shaun Morin.
"The weather was the best part," he said Saturday following 20-minutes of fireworks.
"It can make it great," he goes on, "just like for farmers!"
He credited West Coast Amusements for the wide variety of rides on the midway that went well past midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Saturday's numbers, he said, were at least 6500 even considering that those five years of age and under are admitted free of charge.
Part of the draw on Saturday was the parade which ran down most of Broadway St.
Friday's concert lineup of the Headpins and Rebellion brought in the numbers too while Bif Naked on Wednesday night and Lee Aaron on Thursday, put numbers up, insists Morin, who told the paper that Bif Naked had to be booked in the winter to come to Yorkton.
Morin said there was plenty of help that went into this year's fair and the list includes the Yorkton Terriers at the gates, high school students and their parents helping in the kitchen, the Yorkton Regional High School's robotics club helping with the grounds cleanup, the Old Relics old-timers hockey team in the beer gardens, the ladies auxiliary with the seniors' tea, the opening ceremonies and the children's artwork and display, the Yorkton archery club with the parking arrangements, the Yorkton fire department, Saltcoats School Community and Dairy Queen, says Morin.
