Summer film series ends tonight

The Yorkton Film Festival's (YFF) summer Films Under the Arch series wraps up tonight with Episode 12 of the Canadian comedy/reality series Never Ever Try This at Home.

In the grand tradition of Mythbusters with maybe a smattering of Jackass thrown in, hosts Teddy Wilson and Norm Souza test the limits of safety by ignoring the warning labels on household products, as well as, create some gratuitous destruction.

The episode includes using explosives to dig a hot tub, playing with piñatas, building the largest night-light using glow-sticks, turning over an unregulated propane tank and pushing off the front of a house.

While primarily entertainment, the series does provide some interesting educational content.

Tonight's screening of final Never Ever Try This at Home is the final installment in the YFF's summer series. It started July 16 with How to be a Wild Elephant followed by A Dog's Life July 30 and Surviving :) The Teenage Brain last week.

Blair Yacischyn, YFF program director, said the series has been very well received.

"It's been a great success, particularly our screening of A Dog's Life, which we partnered with the off leash dog park," he said. "It was very well attended, but we've been pleased with all the screenings this year."

Tonight's show gets going at 7:30 p.m. at the Godfrey Dean Cultural Centre. It is free of charge and open to all.
