At the June meeting of the Sunrise Regional Health Authority, Vice-Chairperson Dave Schappert accepted the duties of temporary Chairperson of Sunrise Regional Health Authority, following the resignation of Don Rae as Chairperson of the RHA board.

Interim President and CEO Christina Denysek reported that the Stepping Stone Wellness Clinic in Kamsack had a very successful open house event on June 2 which was well attended by health region representatives, partner agencies, media representatives and program clients. A testimonial from a client in the program highlighted the importance of the service provided through the clinic for individuals, families and communities in the area.

Work on the health system transition to the Saskatchewan Health Authority continues, with many representatives from Sunrise Health Region participating in transition work streams. It was also reported that the sixth annual Report to the Community was completed in early June and is available for viewing on the Sunrise Health Region website. Topics include hand hygiene, age-friendly communities, echocardiography services, Smart IV pump technology, Speak Up! for Safety, “Choosing Wisely” Canada, and the importance of immunizations.

Reports were received from the Health Foundation representative, Ethics Committee representative, Quality and Safety Board Committee and Community Health Advisory Committee (CHAC). It was noted that the CHAC meeting on June 15 was well attended and included very positive discussions and collaboration on health region initiatives.

A letter was received from Accreditation Canada indicating that all follow-up requirements have been met and Sunrise Health Region has achieved full compliance with the evaluated criteria.

Decisions

The board received and approved governance processes on locally generated funds, and approved policy monitoring reports on executive limitations related to financial planning, investments, resident trust accounts, records management and information systems.

The Financial Condition Report, up to and including May 31, 2017, showed Sunrise Health Region’s operating expenses are greater than operating revenues by $34,693, or 0.1%.

The next regular meeting of the Sunrise Regional Health Authority is September 27, 2017.
