The “Sunrise Health Region - Health Status in Early Childhood” report is now available to the public on the Sunrise Health Region website www.sunrisehealthregion.sk.ca under News and Publications / Reports.

This report looks at the health status in early childhood, defined as the period from birth until approximately 8 years of age, an extremely important life stage as it is crucial in shaping several aspects of future adolescents and healthy adults. The Sunrise Health Region will work together in partnership with children, parents, families, education, community groups and all partners in care to enhance shared ownership of this issue to influence change. This report highlights the need for continued efforts in improving status as a collective community.

“The report helps to shine a light on the health status of our youngest and most vulnerable citizens. It is our expectation that this report will lead to greater understanding of how we might influence the health of children” said Suann Laurent, President and CEO of Sunrise Health Region.

The report was compiled by Medical Health Officer, Dr. Mandiangu Nsungu. The health region extends our appreciation to the researchers whose large body of works were referenced by Dr. Nsungu.
