Despite two days of rain that left the site of the Second Annual Pumpkin Walk a muddy mess and prevented a planned fireworks display, thousands showed up for the popular new event. Jackie Roberts, one of the Yorkton Co-op coordinators of the event attributed the success to the fact that, rain or shine, it is a truly family and community affair attracting young and old. “We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout,” she said. Nearly 1,100 jack-o-lanterns lined the trails where vendors handed out treats to costumed pumpkin walkers. The COOP also handed out more than 2,200 hot dogs.
