Saskatchewan teachers have announced a second walkout on Wednesday and Thursday this week after another breakdown of contract negotiations with the province.
All classes, bussing, and extracurricular activities are cancelled on the strike days, May 25 and 26.
The 12,000 members of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation held a one-day strike on May 5, the first in the province's history.
Afterwards, the federation changed its demand for a 12 percent salary increase over one year to an increase of 16.3 percent over three years. The government-trustee bargaining committee says it can go no higher than 6.05 percent over that time period.
Among the extracurricular activities affected locally by the strike are the District Track & Field Meet that was to be held at Yorkton Regional High School on Wednesday and Thursday. Student Day at the Yorkton Short Film Festival has been delayed from Thursday to Friday, when teachers will be back on the job.
