Yorkton newcomer, Nadine Frisk said she is repaying the welcomeness she's already felt from her new community by stepping up and volunteering for the local Terry Fox run taking place Sunday, September 14.

"I thought it would be a great way to give back to my community in Yorkton and I know it will be a great way to meet people," Frisk said.

Yorkton has hosted a Terry Fox run every year since 1981. "When you have history like that, you hate to see it not happen," says Brandy Fingas, program development co-ordinator with the Terry Fox Foundation - Saskatchewan.

"The Terry Fox run has become a Canadian tradition in a lot of towns and cities in Canada. In Saskatchewan especially, there's so much Terry Fox spirit in this province," she adds.

Volunteers are still needed and if you would like to get involved, contact Nadine Frisk by emailing [email protected] or telephone Brandy at the provincial office at (306) 757-1662.

To date, the Terry Fox foundation has raised more than $600 million for cancer research since 1980.
