The Saskatchewan Drama Association (SDA) 2015 Region 4 High School Drama Festival was held April 23 to 25 at Kamsack Comprehensive Institute in Kamsack. Sacred Heart High School’s production of This is a Play, directed by Mr. G. Digout, was chosen as Best Overall Production by Front of House Adjudicator Josh Ramsden of Saskatoon. Esterhazy High School’s The 9 Worst Breakups of All Time, was the Runner Up the the Best Overall Production.
This is a Play now advances to the SDA 2015 Provincial High School Drama Festival, to be held May 7 to 9 at the University of Regina Mainstage Theatre. At the Provincial Festival, Sacred Heart High School will compete against winning plays from ten other provincial regions for the title of provincial Best Overall Production. The top acting award at the Region 4 Festival, the Mary Ellen Burgess Performance Award, was won by Mack Tourand from Sacred Heart High School for the role of Male Actor in This is a Play. Casey Shields won an Acting Award of Merit for the role of Older Female Actor in the play, and JilliAnn Sawatsky won an Acting Certificate of Merit for the role of Female Actor.
