An adult woman faces charges that may be related to a Yorkton murder case from last summer.
RCMP media relations would not confirm the connection, but court documents obtained by Yorkton This Week allege that on September 12, 2016, Desiree Musqua, 19, stole a wallet, its contents, a cheque book and other sundry items from Lawrence Skoretz and used violence to do so.
Skoretz was found unresponsive the following morning, September 13, at approximately 5:15 a.m. and pronounced dead shortly thereafter at hospital.
On September 22, police arrested two male youths, who were charged with first degree murder and robbery with violence. They remain in custody with preliminary hearings scheduled for April 26 and 27.
Musqua was arrested in Regina earlier this month and released on conditions that included having not contact with the murder suspects, a ban on alcohol consumption and a curfew from 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. She was scheduled to appear in Yorkton Court March 20, but did not show up. Legal Aid defence attorney Richard Yaholnitsky requested and was granted an adjournment until April 18. Judge Patrick Reis issued a warrant to be held until that date.
Nothing was said on the record connecting Musqua to the murder and she has only been charged with robbery, but family and supporters of the deceased man filled the courtroom Monday as they have every time the two youths have been scheduled to appear.
