More than 100 representatives from Saskatchewan towns, villages, resort villages, and northern municipalities met in Regina for the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) sector meeting.
“This is a great opportunity for our members to come together with other municipal officials from similar-sized communities,” said Mike Strachan, Vice-President of Villages, Resort Villages, and Northern Municipalities.
“These meetings allow us to talk about the issues that our hometowns are facing,” said Vice-President of Towns Rodger Hayward. “They are also an opportunity to share our successes. Innovation is budding in our communities, and we have a lot of knowledge to share with one another.”
In addition to discussing issues and ideas, attendees saw a presentation by Fire Commissioner and Assistant Deputy Minister Duane McKay on regional public safety, and heard from Minister of Government Relations Warren Kaeding.
“It’s always a pleasure to host this meeting,” said Vice-President Strachan. “We are pleased to have both Fire Commissioner McKay and Minister Kaeding join us. SUMA and our members appreciate the opportunity to speak with provincial officials.”
