Saskatchewan had the highest percentage increase in trade among the provinces for March, with wholesale trade figures released by Statistics Canada today showing strong improvement for the province over 2010.

In March 2011, wholesale trade was up 13.0 per cent (seasonally adjusted) over last March, more than double the 6.0 per cent recorded on a national level. Between February 2011 and March 2011 wholesale trade in the province was up 5.9 per cent, well ahead of the 0.1 per cent rise nationally.

"The increase in agricultural supplies is one of the key sectors driving the improvement in wholesale trade for the province," Enterprise Saskatchewan Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "Wholesale indicators are a good sign that economic activity will increase based on larger volumes of inventory to supply a growing demand."
