Yorkton Council has taken another step toward a Transportation Master Plan for the city.

"The City has been engaged by Stantec to update the Transportation Master Plan. The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure requires the City to enter into an agreement regarding this transportation plan," detailed a report circulated at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.

"The Province cost shares in the funding of transportation master plans." The City is eligible for 75 per cent of the funding.

City Council approved in 2010, the City entering into an agreement with Stantec to undertake the transportation master plan.

"Administration views the Transportation Master Plan Study Agreement as essential to completing this transportation master plan. By not entering into the agreement, the City is responsible for the full cost of this project. By entering into the agreement, the City is only responsible for 25 per cent of the coast of the project. The total project cost is $125,000 approved in 2010 by City Council," detailed the report from Gord Shaw with the City's Planning & Engineering Department.

Council unanimously supported entering into the agreement.
