Two people are dead and another is injured following a head-on collision yesterday four kilometres east of Theodore on Hwy 16.
Just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, an eastbound car crossed the centre line of the highway and collided with a westbound semi. The driver and a passenger of the car were killed instantly. A third occupant was transported by EMS to the hospital in Yorkton and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Deceased are Deloris Taniskishayinew, 37, of Tisdale and 28-year-old Tracey Taniskishayinew of the Yellowquill First Nation.
The driver of the semi was unharmed.
Cpl. Tim Schwartz, of the Yorkton rural RCMP detachment said no charges are pending.
Traffic on Hwy 16 was diverted in both directions for approximately six hours.
