The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce has announced two new events for entrepreneurs in the region.

The first is the Great Ideas Seminar, facilitated by Glenn Suart, Chief Strategist for Calgary-based WriteMyPlan. The seminar will be three and a half hours, and at the end it promises to give entrepreneurs two concrete steps towards turning ideas into businesses.

The second event is the Parkland Pitch Party, held with Community Futures Ventures. Held at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cultural Centre on November 15, the Pitch Party will see local entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a panel, with a total prize package of $4,500 up for grabs. That includes $2,000 for the pitch deemed the best idea.

The money for the prize will be provided by Community Futures Ventures.

“The Parkland Pitch Party is going to be a great event for new entrepreneurs to share their ideas,” said Corinne Lubiniecki, General Manager of Community Futures Ventures in a release. “This is an ideal opportunity for Community Futures Ventures to assist these entrepreneurs as they move forward with their businesses.”

In order to participate in the pitch party, people will have to apply in advance. The Chamber is accepting applications until November 1, and from those will select six finalists to appear before the panel. The Chamber reserves the right to select only those applications for ideas it deems legal and morally responsible.
