The trial of Jaycee Mildenberger for the 2009 murder of Gwenda Gregory has been rescheduled for the summer.

Proceedings were to begin with jury selection January 12, but the case was adjourned to June 1. A management pretrial—a conference between the judge and attorneys designed to help the trial proceed more efficiently—is scheduled for today.

Depending on how long jury selection takes, the trial could start as early as the afternoon of June 1 or in the morning on the following day.

Gregory, 50, was found dead in her Usherville home on March 7, 2009. Officials determined her death was the result of homicide after a preliminary investigation, but the case stymied investigators until May of 2012.

After three years, more than 300 interviews, aerial and ground searches and forensics exercises, the RCMP finally caught an undisclosed break that led them to Mildenberger, also of Usherville.

He was arrested June 8, 2012 and has been in custody since.
