Visiting Mary Soltys was her daughter Donna and her husband Randy Flatt from Thompson, Manitoba. They came out to attend a wedding of their nephew Tyler Pilipow who married Amanda Waldenberger of Moose Jaw on June 12.
Congratulations to Melissa Hemm and Travis Sawchuk of Melville on the birth of their daughter, Sophie Anna Sawchuk. She weighed 6 lbs 9 ounces. Sophie was born on April 17 at 1:53 a.m. at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Proud grandparents are Craig and Deb Sawchuk of Goodeve and Neil Hemm of Melville and Tammy Hackman of Yorkton. Proud Great Grandparents are Lucy Klus of Melville and Matt and Hazel Hackman of Esk.
We recently reported that the post mistress in Fenwood retired. Sadly Canada Post was unable to find a suitable replacement and the Fenwood Post Office closed. Roadside boxes have been installed.There have also been personal losses. The Walker family suffered the loss of Dwayne Walker.The Smee Family suffered the loss of Dennis.
Also, a long time resident Russel Sawchyn passed.
The village of Goodeve is 100 years old this year. Goodeve was incorporated on August 18, 1910. To commemorate the occasion "The 100 Years of Heritage Committee" in Goodeve has plans well underway. To begin with The Blue Bonnet Seniors Club will host the following activites for the Goodeve Centennial August 7, 2010.
Celebrations at the Senior Centre: Continental Breakfast - 8:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m.; Singers from Balcarres - 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.; Chickowsky Music Band - 2:15 p.m.; Raffle - Items during the day; Evening Dabber Cash Bingo - 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Lunch will be available during the day.
