Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter has designated the week of March 4 to March 10, 2012, as Engineering and Geoscience Week in Saskatchewan, recognizing the significant contributions these professional men and women continue to play in designing the future of our province.
"Whether it is ensuring the transportation system keeps our export-based economy moving or pioneering new technology to improve our quality of life and prosperity, engineers and geoscientists play a key role in the design of Saskatchewan's future," Reiter said. "Saskatchewan is a great place to live and the men and women of this profession deserve recognition and a hearty thank you for their ongoing work, which has contributed to our province's growth."
APEGS members make significant contributions daily in a variety of sectors including agriculture, construction, environment, forestry, manufacturing, mining, utilities, transportation and resources.
"Our theme 'Design the Future' encapsulates how professional engineers and geoscientists are working to help shape tomorrow in Saskatchewan through new innovations and cost-effective solutions," APEGS President Peter Jackson said.
