Wholesale trade for June 2013 hit a monthly record according to a report released by Statistics Canada today. In June 2013, wholesale trade totalled $2.07 billion, the highest ever for the month.
"As Saskatchewan's economy performs at this high level of activity, the need to move goods rapidly and efficiently increases," Economy Minister Bill Boyd said. "Our province has a strong and fast-growing wholesale industry which is building capacity, creating new jobs and keeping our economy moving."
Saskatchewan's wholesale trade in June was up by 7.1 per cent over June of 2012, the second highest percentage increase among the provinces.
"Wholesalers are an integral player in the supply link," Boyd said. "We're fortunate to have the infrastructure and the essential companies here to keep up with the demand on both the business and consumer side in a wholesale industry that is likely to keep on growing well into our future."
