The Willowbrook Lions Club recently donated $1,000 to assist the purchase of new Operating Room equipment and Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) pain medication pumps.

"This is a wonderful donation and it comes at a great time," said Ross Fisher, Executive Director of The Health Foundation. "We said we would try to have the fundraising for this equipment completed by spring, and hopefully spring is here. This equipment will make a big difference to the care available to the residents of our area."

"We really hope that other individuals, businesses and organizations will follow the example of the Willowbrook Lions and make a contribution to help us purchase these PCA pumps," continued Mr. Fisher. "The Lions Clubs throughout east central Saskatchewan have really supported this project, and we appreciate that."
Vince Somogyi, President of the Willowbrook Lions presented The Health Foundation a cheque for $1,000 and commented that the Lions are proud to support worthwhile projects and have a tradition of giving back to the community.

"We raise money in a variety of ways during the year, and we do that so we can help people and projects that are in need; both in Willowbrook and in our area. We get a lot of support for our events, people know that the money we raise goes back into the community so our events are really well attended," said Mr. Somogyi.

The three main fundraisers the Willowbrook Lions put on are:

An annual sausage making and tasting competition, with a sausage and perogy supper held the third Saturday in January each year; A fundraising breakfast the third Saturday of April each year, April 16 this year; and, A pork roast supper, which will be held June 11th this year.

"We know this equipment will benefit hundreds of people each year, and in some cases make a big difference in their quality of life. That's a very good reason to support this campaign for new operating room equipment," he continued.
