A 30-year-old Yorkton woman will serve a sentence in the community for assault causing bodily harm related to a nightclub incident last fall.
Ashley Wilson was originally charged with aggravated assault after another woman received a gash to her face that required stitches at the City Limits Inn October 24, 2015.
The Yorkton Provincial Court was told June 1 an intoxicated Wilson intended to simply throw a drink in the woman’s face, but misjudged the distance breaking a glass across the victim’s cheek.
At last week’s hearing, the Crown withdrew the aggravated assault charge and introduced a new information alleging the lesser count of assault causing bodily harm, to which Wilson pleaded guilty.
In a joint submission, the Crown and defence recommended a six-month conditional sentence followed by six months probation, which the judge accepted.
In addition to the statutory conditions, Wilson will be required to live at an approved address; observe an 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, for the first three months; refrain from alcohol and non-prescription drugs; participate in assessment and treatment for addictions; have no contact with, nor be within 20 metres of the victim; provide a written apology; and do 20 hours of community service.
Her probation conditions are the same less the curfew, apology and community service.
