Michael Winter will remain in jail pending two trials scheduled for later this summer.
The 50-year-old Yorkton man was convicted in January for marijuana trafficking and sentenced to time-served on remand and six months probation. While serving his probation, he was rearrested in May for allegedly causing a disturbance at the municipal detachment of the RCMP, assaulting a police officer and possessing a knife for purposes dangerous to the public.
Following a court appearance June 1 on those charges, Winter allegedly threatened a Crown witness. He was arrested again and charged with uttering threats, attempted obstruction of justice and breach of probation. On June 2, he was remanded in custody pending a June 8 bail hearing. At that hearing, he was denied bail.
A trial was set for July 21 on the alleged RCMP detachment incident and a hearing was set for June 10 to address the new charges. On that date, Winter pleaded not guilty to the uttering threats and related charges and was scheduled for trial on August 4.
