A woman with multiple charges in several jurisdictions was denied bail at a show cause hearing in the Yorkton Provincial Court last Friday.
Stephanie Delnea is facing 24 charges, including assault, operation while impaired, and fraud. She incurred these charges in Kamsack, Regina, and other locations.
Her defense attorney requested she be released on bail. Her father was at the hearing and the attorney said he was willing to post $500 for her release.
The judge for the case said he appreciated that Delnea’s father was present.
“You’re lucky,” he told her.
Ultimately, the judge denied Delnea’s request, stating that since she has failed to appear in court on five different occasions, he can’t be certain she’ll return if let go.
“I can’t release you,” he said. “It’s a no-brainer.”
“I’m not a runner,” Delnea said.
The judge set Delnea’s case over to Feb. 26 in Melville.
“You’ve got to figure this out,” he said. “Good luck.”
