Worst road campaign officially underway

As part of CAA Saskatchewan's efforts to advocate for better roads, we are joining other CAA clubs across the country in a Worst Roads Campaign.

As part of CAA Saskatchewan's efforts to advocate for better roads, we are joining other CAA clubs across the country in a Worst Roads Campaign.

From March 27-April 23, 2012, we are asking drivers to vote on the worst road - for potholes, cracks, or just general disrepair, poor signage, congestion etc. - they've travelled on recently in the province. They could also include roads that are too narrow for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to share safely.

When the campaign is over, we'll forward the top 10 to the appropriate government body.

"Despite record spending in the past five years by the provincial government on highways and infrastructure, a CAA member survey showed 50% of drivers still believe our roads and highways are getting worse," says Lisa Wilson-Sturm, Director of Communications & Marketing for CAA Saskatchewan. "We're encouraging drivers to go online at caask.ca/worstroads and tell us which roads they believe are the absolute worst."

Worst Road Campaigns have been run successfully in Ontario for a number of years. Last year, CAA clubs in British Columbia and Atlantic Canada held their first campaigns. This year, CAA Manitoba will be joining in along with CAA Saskatchewan.

Working towards better roads and driving safety is a priority for CAA Saskatchewan.

The Worst Roads Campaign helps to put a spotlight on troublesome and even dangerous road conditions in the province and is one tool to help address those roads in most need of attention.
