The Yorkton Business Improvement District (YBID) has stepped up to pay for half the cost of new parking lot lighting at the Gallagher Centre.
YBID Chair Bruce Thurston attended the regular meeting of Yorkton Council to make the presentation.
Each year YBID sets aside funds in support of a major project, he explained, adding they had been looking a re-launching a winter carnival in the city, but that project was put off for a year.
Thurston said YBID learned the parking lot lighting had cost the City $100,000, and determined as a way “to show our support for future development they would find 50 per cent “as our share of the lights.”
