Yorkton residents win $100k

The $100,000 Grand Prize winners of the 2011 Health Foundation Cash Lottery were mother and daughter Alice and Diane Hood of Yorkton. Alice Hood heard the news on June 24 and accepted the cheque last week. "I just couldn't believe it.

The $100,000 Grand Prize winners of the 2011 Health Foundation Cash Lottery were mother and daughter Alice and Diane Hood of Yorkton.

Alice Hood heard the news on June 24 and accepted the cheque last week.

"I just couldn't believe it. I was shaking and I was crying," she said.

A strong believer in the work of The Health Foundation, Hood said she plans to donate part of her winnings back to the organization.

The Cash Lottery sold out again this year and awarded a total of $125,000 in prizes. Proceeds are being used to purchase surgical equipment to reduce wait time for cataract surgeries in the Sunrise Health Region.
