Yorkton will be one of eight sites hosting math curriculum consultation sessions between educators and members of the Saskatchewan government next month.
The sessions are part of a math education review ordered by the government last month in response to highly publicized complaints that new methods of teaching math in the Saskatchewan curriculum are ineffective.
On February 8, representatives of three to four school divisions will meet in Yorkton with government representatives led by MLAs Russ Marchuk and Gene Makowsky.
Two sessions will be held that day: one for non-teachers (administrators and consultants) and one for teachers. The Good Spirit School Division, the Christ the Teacher School Division, and the other participating divisions will nominate three employees to represent them at each session.
"We did request that one be held here, so we are pleased that they are holding it here," said GSSD Director of Education Dwayne Reeve.
