A youth has pleaded guilty in a gunfire incident that occurred last week.
On December 5, residents of First Avenue North near York Road reported shots being fired at approximately 10:30 in the evening. An RCMP investigation located a vehicle parked on the street with a bullet hole in its windshield.
On December 7, the Mounties charged a boy under the Youth Criminal Justice Act with a number of offences.
In Yorkton Provincial Court the following day, the youth pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, mischief, theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
At the time of the arrest, members seized the firearm alleged to have been used in the shooting, but did not release any information on what type of gun it is.
In a press release, the detachment thanked members of the public for their assistance in the case.
Sentencing in the case has been adjourned until February 9 to allow for the preparation of a presentence report. The youth has been released pending sentencing.
