The Yorkton Regional High School has received national recognition.
Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, has announced the Yorkton Regional High School’s yearbook program has been named a 2017 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies literacy.
The Yorkton Regional High School award winning 2016-2017 yearbook was created by: Briana Wosminity, Jenna Senchuk, Morenike Oyenubi, Kacey Fyck, Alyna Serray, Jessica Nelson, Mellanie Lago, Halle Washenfelder, Kendra Audette, Ocean Williams, Sydney Morrison, Lincoln Russell, Kailee Popowich, Karylle Romulo, Aubrei Diaz, Alexis Tamme, under the direction of Kristine Kreklewich, YRHS Yearbook Advisor.
“Yearbook is a club without an ‘off-season,’” stated Kreklewich in a release from the school. “The students are continuously working throughout the school year, and into the summer months, in order to produce a high-quality book. Many people are often unaware of who is working behind the scenes to create the book that they receive in the fall. Despite this, the yearbook team works together and continues to grow each year.
“One of the best days of the entire school year is when the Yearbooks come in! There is no better feeling than to see students’ and staffs eyes light up as they look at our work, and reflect on the past school year.
“Our goal is to highlight and acknowledge as many people as possible, so that every Raider will treasure their Yearbook for many years to come. I am very proud of my team for being recognized for their excellent work.”
Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall for yearbooks delivered during the school year. The award was presented to the YRHS yearbook program for achieving the defined criteria in each of three following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.
“Jostens is proud to recognize those individuals who have acted as wonderful stewards by creating an exceptional yearbook for their school and community,” said Chuck Mooty, Jostens president and CEO in the release. “Yearbooks are a critical part of telling a school’s story, and Jostens is dedicated to supporting yearbook staff members with state-of-the-art tools and resources that help celebrate moments that matter.”
The YRHS yearbook program will receive a plaque and a banner to display in school.
