A team from Yorkton Regional High School's Robotics Club is once again the national champion of the Skills Canada competition.
After winning the provincial championship at Saskatoon in April despite a shaky start, Carter Park, Brayden Miller, Josh Tysowski and Michael Kosuska were full of confidence heading to Vancouver to compete for the national title.
At the end of Day 1, Thursday, the boys had a commanding points lead at 121 to Ontario's 89.
Day 2 once again saw Team Sask do very well setting up the gold medal match against a strong Ontario squad that went into sudden death overtime.
The Yorkton lads were up to the task taking home gold for YRHS for the second year running.
"I am overwhelmed by the level of skill that I have once again witnessed," said Kevin... Chaisson, the team's coach.
Next up for the Regional's robotics program is the world competition in Leipzig, Germany in July. Jayden Leister and Bo Chiasson, half of last year's national championship team and winners of the World Skills Americas championship in Brazil last December, will represent Canada at that competition.
This year's champs will compete in Bolivia for the World Skills Americas Championship.
